Dr. Jeffrey Ruterbusch has been providing mental health care and psychiatry for over 30 years.  He completed his residency in Psychiatry at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego and his fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Tripler Army Medical Center. He is double board-certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Ruterbusch has experience in Operational Psychiatry having worked with all five west coast Navy Seal teams in domestic and global operations. He also provides health education, psychotherapy, medication management, diagnostic assessments, and mental health care to a diverse population of children and adults.

He has extensive knowledge and skill in evaluating and assessing PTSD, mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. He has expertise in working with persons from the LGBTQ+ community. He is also especially interested in treating people who have been identified as having adjustment, conduct, or oppositional defiant disorders. His innovative treatment approach helps those experiencing mental health concerns by getting to the root cause of challenges. He is a skilled observer of behavior and a keen listener and likes to learn as much as possible about each person, their family and environment to understand their current issues and symptoms — including biological, psychological, and social factors that influence their daily lives.

Dr. Ruterbusch emphasizes the importance of understanding the complexity of humans and recognizes the limitations of diagnostic categories in helping to understand the whole person. He explores all possible treatment options to achieve the best outcomes in collaboration with the person and their supports.
