What is telehealth?

Telehealth is the use of telecommunication technologies to provide treatment and better opportunities for medical care particularly for those not in the same place as the medical provider. Virtual telehealth treatment can take place via phone, tablet, computer or any device with internet access.

What are the benefits of telehealth for mental health treatment?

Telehealth treatment greatly improves patients' access to care, particularly for those with limited mobility and those living far from available providers. It allows for patients's to have the highest quality of care including specialists and sub specialists. It also reduces care-related expenses, including travel time and loss of work time.

Does OMH offer in-person consultation?

OMH does offer in-person consultation in certain locations, but are limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Please call 1-855-550-MIND for a list of the current locations and to schedule an appointment.

Therapists are mental health professionals who are trained to provide treatment and rehabilitation. The term is often applied to psychologists, but it can include others who provide a variety of services, including social workers, counselors, life coaches, and many others.
