Lori Guidinglight is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSW) based in California. Additionally, she is an Endorsed Transdisciplinary Infant Family Mental Health Therapist. Mental Health Therapy is not a one size fit all. Lori has many tools in her therapeutic tool box. Some of the tools are evidenced based and traditional. Some of the tools are out of the traditional box. No matter the tools used - with your permission, the goal is to guide you towards mental health wellness. Guiding you from the head and down into the heart so that the progress of mental health wellness is integrative of body, mind, and spirit. It is Lori’s job to lean in and meet you where you are in the moment. Utilizing a Strengths Based approach, it is clear each person does have the tools within. Sometimes it takes a bit of discovery and adding additional skills/tools to the toolbox. Using aspects of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Brainspotting (BSP). She is also Polyvagyl Theory informed and has training in Grief, Loss, and Bereavement - to name a few Evidenced Based tools - you and Lori will work together to progress towards your mental wellness goals.

 

Lori is an avid meditator. She has been a Meditation Teacher for over 20 years. Connected with this, she was initiated into Thai Shamanism in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2003. She apprenticed at a local “Sala” in Chiang Mai using the learned techniques as a volunteer . Lori is also a Reiki Master Teacher trained in the Usui lineage, Karuna Reiki, Seichem, and a practitioner of Johrei. Lori has been a devotee of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, affectionally known as AMMA for 19 years.

 

Lori has worked in the field of social work for over 17 years. She has worked with a plethora of clients of difference race, creed, color, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identification. She has worked with homeless adults living with HIV/ AIDS who were also in recovery. Lori has also worked with the Transgender community. She has also worked with adults living with cancer and their families and has been a Hospice Medical Social worker. Additionally, Lori has worked with families with children under the age of three years old who are either at risk of or have a developmental delay Lori is passionate about lifelong learning. She is currently pursuing certification in Perinatal Mental Health. Additionally, she is doing further training in Brainspotting (BSP), developed by Dr David Grand.

 

Lori received a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a minor in Health and Nutrition from Austin Peay State University in Tennessee. She received her Masters in Clinical Social Work (MSSW) from the University of Tennessee - Nashville.
